What is EmberNet?​

EmberNet is a secure, multi-tenant industrial monitoring and automation platform built for edge computing. It provides real-time telemetry, zero-trust networking, and comprehensive device management.

Who makes EmberNet?​

EmberNet is a product of Fireball Industries, headquartered in Macedonia, Ohio.

What industries does EmberNet serve?​

EmberNet serves manufacturing, energy & utilities, water & wastewater, building automation, oil & gas, and other industrial verticals.

Is EmberNet cloud-only?​

No. EmberNet is edge-native, meaning it runs on hardware at your site. It can operate in on-premises, hybrid, or fully managed configurations.

Deployment​

What hardware does EmberNet run on?​

EmberNet runs on standard x86_64 or ARM64 hardware. It's validated on industrial platforms from Advantech and OnLogic. See System Requirements.

Does EmberNet require internet access?​

Edge nodes require outbound HTTPS connectivity for mesh enrollment and cloud sync. However, the platform continues to operate locally during network outages.

How long does installation take?​

A single-node deployment can be installed in under an hour. Multi-node clusters typically take 2–4 hours depending on network complexity.

Security​

Does EmberNet require a VPN?​

No. EmberNet uses a zero-trust mesh network that eliminates the need for VPNs. See Zero-Trust Networking.

Are any inbound firewall ports required?​

No. EmberNet uses outbound-only connections. No inbound ports need to be opened.

How are certificates managed?​

Certificates are automatically provisioned, rotated, and revoked by the mesh control plane.

Data​

What protocols does EmberNet support?​

OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, SNMP, and BACnet. See Device Connectivity.

How long is data retained?​

Data retention is configurable. Default tiers are 7 days (hot), 30 days (warm), and 365 days (cold). See Configuration Reference.

Can I export data?​

Yes. Data can be exported via CSV, the REST API, or real-time streaming via MQTT/webhooks.

Dashboard​

What browsers are supported?​

Chrome 90+, Firefox 85+, Edge 90+, and Safari 14+.

Can I create custom dashboards?​

Yes. The dashboard supports drag-and-drop widget placement with multiple visualization types.
