GoRules Zen Engine
A small REST service that evaluates JDM decision files at the edge.
Category: Business Rules
GoRules Zen Engine is Fireball's packaging of GoRules' open-source ZEN decision library (version 0.54.0) as a headless service. It evaluates JDM (JSON Decision Model) files locally, so a gateway at the machine gets its decisions without a round trip to a central server.
What it does
POST /evaluate/fileevaluates a JDM file from its rules directory by name, with the input you send.POST /evaluateevaluates a JDM model sent inline with the request.GET /healthreports the engine and its version.
When to use it
Choose the Zen Engine when you already have your JDM files and want the lightest way to run them beside an edge gateway, including offline. If you want the full GoRules agent loading releases from GoRules BRMS, deploy GoRules Engine instead.
Running on EmberNet
- Headless. The card shows the engine running, with nothing to open. Apps call it on port 3100 inside the cluster, and the chart publishes it over Flux so it is reachable across sites.
- One instance per node.
- Rule files come from a volume you provide. The engine mounts an existing
volume of
.jdm.jsonfiles read-only. Without one, file evaluation fails until rules are present, though inline evaluation still works. - Locked down. It runs as a non-root user on a read-only filesystem with every capability dropped, and requests 50m of CPU and 64 MiB of memory.
