Portainer is not a tenant install. It appears in the App Store only for Fireball's Global Command role, and a running Portainer does not appear in any tenant's Running Apps. Your organization's apps are deployed, opened, and removed from the App Store in EmberCORE.

Portainer CE is a management console for containers and Kubernetes. The App Store runs Portainer CE 2.45.1, the current long-term support release, on x86-64 and ARM64 nodes.

Why it is Fireball's alone​

Portainer manages the cluster it runs on, and to do that it runs with cluster-admin rights: whoever is signed in to it can change anything in every namespace on the cluster, every tenant's included. That is a platform operator's tool, not an app for one organization, so EmberCORE shows it to Fireball's platform role and refuses a deploy from anyone else.

What it does​

  • Shows the workloads, volumes, and namespaces on the cluster it runs on, and manages them from a browser.
  • Opens at its own app address, framed inside EmberCORE. Portainer only works at that address, not through EmberCORE's built-in proxy.
